Hello there, all friends of Penny Darling!
Thank you for all of the love and support of my one year anniversary!
It has been wonderful getting to know all of you.
And one of the things that I said was that the relationships you build and create make every moment of labor of love worth it.
Since yesterday was National Women’s Day – I wanted to take a few moments to talk about some of the amazing women who have inspired me on my blogging journey.
I’ve had many women who have inspired me along the journey like my Mom and my best friends Abby & Cathy and so many other women along the way. Thank you for all you do, all you represent, and for being incredible.
So I wanted to give a few shout outs to my fave plus size bloggers! I’ll leave links to all their instagrams! You can find mine here!
In honor of all of these awesome women – I tried really hard to emulate a look of theirs for my blog today. Some attempts are better than others. And some of the pictures aren’t great. We had some in-climate weather issues.
Liz from With Wonder & Whimsy
You can check out Liz’s adorable-ness here!
I was lucky enough to do a collab with Liz a few weeks ago and it was so much fun. She was one of the first plus size fashion and lifestyle bloggers to truly engage with me. She reached out, answered a lot of great questions, and was a kind friend.
I also love her addiction to pastels, her SUPER pink based style, her glam and girly combo, and her sweetness!
I tried to re-create her outfit with a Lane Bryant pink skirt, some Cheetah flats, and some pearl necklaces. I added a Scottie pin and bow to my hair to make it my own!
Lisa at Mustang Sally Two
I found Lisa from her Instagram here – and was instantly addicted!
She has such an awesome sense of style, makes all of her outfits perfect for work or for going out, and she is a licensed CPA. I respect the heck out of that. For real.
She isn’t as whimsical as most other people I follow but honestly, it’s more realistic. She makes being a real person SUPER fashionable and practical.
She’s also ‘super’ plus sized. I sometimes find issue relating to other plus sized fashion models who are a size 14 or 16. Our store options are TOTALLY different. And Lisa talks about being above a size 22.
I tried recreating her look with a pleated and full skirt with an easy tank with yellow apples on it! It’s not exact -but I thought it looked great! And I wouldn’t have thought of pairing them together – but it looked so damn cute on her that I wanted to try!
*One of the many benefits of following other plus size bloggers is helping to expand your horizons.
Ashley Nell Tipton
You can find her Instagram here!
Ashley Nell Tipton was on Project Runway….and SLAAAYED it.
She’s also a higher than size 16 plus size fashion model which is always amazing!
And she’s got the punk rock hair, that rock & roll and sweet as pie combo style. She also has her own clothing line, has done a ton of body positive activism, and is taking over the damn fashion world. C’mon – how could I not admire her?
The ‘having your own clothing line’ thing is THE dream. Perfect.
I tried to recreate her awesome look with a simple black skater dress with a faux fur shrug. Mine has pearl collar.
Cat from CatCanCraft
You can find Cat’s instagram here!
Cat and I found out totally by accident that our hometowns were SUPER close to each other and we founded an online friendship. We also discovered a mutual love of Degrassi. She has impeccable style, is cute as a FREAKING BUTTON. Honestly, though? Look at her.
And she and her boyfriend went through one hell of a year last year. I followed along on social media and I admire and respect their relationship, her care and dedication, and how much love and support she is able to give. She was so supportive and caring and strong and positive. I respect everything that she did. Cat & Kurt ARE relationship goals.
She’s truly a remarkable woman.
I also seriously and 100% stole this look right off of Cat. I saw her post that picture in this dress. So I bought this dress. And I styled it the same. Because I wanted to be as cute as a button also.
Corissa at FatGirlFlow
You can find her Instagram here!
Corissa is like, THE, blogger for me. She’s beautiful, she’s funny, she loves her body, she’s a real person, relatable, has an awesome relationship, and is so beautiful!
Corissa is who actually inspired me to start blogging. I read practically all of her stuff in one day, have used her fashion and beauty tips, watched her YouTube videos…and purchased things because she made them so accessible.
She was also the first blogger that I became interested in who was the same size as me. She’s very open about her size and it was SO easy for me to relate and to figure out which store had ‘real’ plus sizes that went higher than an 18.
I have so much respect and admiration of Corissa. She recently commented on two of my instagram posts and I’m a hardcore fan so I immediately screenshotted them and fangirled so hard.
This was another outfit that I bought because of her.
So here’s the “end of blog” spiel!
The next few weeks have some awesome stuff planned! Another collab, some travel stuff, a guest post from Preston, possibly some swimwear, etc. Tons more to come!
I definitely want to do more His & Her fashion. Do you guys like seeing Preston more?
