Hello, my Penny Darlings!
Back again with another exciting week of Penny Darling!
Some exciting things happened this week! I hit 10K. And then 10.3K and then 10.6K. And I had my first Instagram photo hit more than 1,000 likes! Which is AMAZING.
Check me out here! I also started a Twitter account! Find that here!
And look how adorable my little peanut is in said photo:
And in the next few weeks I’ll post a bunch from our really adorable photoshoot!
Preston and I traveled with my family over Memorial Day weekend to our family’s cabin up in the Adirondacks. And it was gorgeous. It’s seriously the most serenely wonderful place on Earth. And I tried to unplug a little bit while I was there. So no blogging, no Instagramming, none of it. It was equal parts relaxing and terribly stressful. I mean, Penny Darling is my baby and I couldn’t work on it. But it was nice to not be constantly on technology.
But today I am here to talk about something critical to any person’s wardrobe: Jeans.
So a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to team up with Avenue Plus to talk about Butter Denim.
And actually, I reached out to them.
Wait, let’s back up. Let’s talk about me. (I mean, what is this blog even about?)
But I hadn’t worn jeans since….2009? Or so? I don’t know. I hated jeans. I thought I couldn’t find a pair of jeans that fit in the thighs AND the waist AND didn’t gap AND could handle the booty.
But a few weeks ago, my friend Afa, who does a LOT of publicist stuff for Penny Darling, and Preston and I stopped at a brick & mortar Avenue in the city that Preston & I live in! And Afa who is strong willed AF offered insisted on making me put on jeans in this store.
They were labeled Butter Denim.
And I tried on a pair IMMEDIATELY AFTER EATING CHIPOTLE FOR THE FIRST TIME.
And I still thought I looked damn good in those jeans. That says a lot about jeans, in my opinion. If you can look great in a pair of jeans IN A FITTING ROOM immediately after a chicken burrito with guac. – then those jeans will look good in every situation. Like, thems is Thanksgiving jeans.
So then, I reached out to Avenue and they were kind enough to gift me a pair of the Denim Butter jeans in a medium rinse and a navy rinse.
And damn. They are so soft and supple and comfy that it doesn’t even feel like jeans.
So if you are terrified of denim or have totally settled to have that weird gap above your butt that science can’t explain…this is the pair of jeans for you.
So first, I tried on dark rinse pair.
They were super comfy and a nice dark rinse. And it’s always amazing to have a dark rinse pair of jeans. They are so easy to dress up with a blouse, pair of heels, and necklace, or with pumps and a blazer and an amazing purse.
Dark rinse jeans are the black leggings of real pants. Everyone should own a pair.
But I paired this with the gray peplum top with these adorable bell sleeves. I am so excited that bell sleeves are coming back into style. It’s jersey and comfy and adorable. I paired that with some matte wine lipstick and my satin gray bow headband to have some playful and casual fun.
I am 5’6 and I wear an AVG length. These sat a little lower than my natural waist.
You can find this specific pair of jeans here and the peplum gray top here! (also available in a bunch of colors!)
Then I tried on the medium rinse jeans.
So these are the original pair I tried on in the store. And the only reason I didn’t buy them right then and there was because they didn’t have this rinse in my size. (I tried on a size smaller in this rinse and my actual size in the dark rinse).
AND THEY ARE ADORABLE.
And for some reason these were a little bit more high waisted. I had originally paired them with an adorable graphic tee from Avenue. But I grabbed this thrifted, original vintage, Edith Piaf white tee shirt and decided to wear the jeans high waisted.
AND LOW KEY I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DAMN OBSESSED WITH A LOOK.
It’s so cute.
So you can find the medium rinse pair here!
And let us take a side step from the denim pants here and talk about this ADORABLE graphic tee!
This came in my amazing gift package! And it’s this soft gray top with this winky eye smooch mouth face. It is literally the cutest shirt of all time.
Like, honestly. Look at this shirt. People are alwaysalwaysalways asking me about my eyelash and lipstick shirt. This is a PERFECT dupe.
I mean, the mouth is a heart. How much cuter do you want a shirt to get?
You can find this winky smooch top here!
So, let’s talk about the upshot.
TL;DR – If you have been struggling to find jeans that you don’t hate, and not only don’t hate, but actually love, Butter Denim from Avenue is THE WAY TO GO.
Check out Avenue’s website here.
Follow them on Insta here!
(they also have AMAZING sales, an excellent insider reward program, and are one of the most customer oriented companies.)
They have up to a size 32 in most items so it’s definitely a great size variety.
So be sure to check them out!
Bonus Bonus: I pretty much exclusively wear their panties. I might write a whole post all about their panties – but the Avenue cotton panties have been impossible to beat.
SO HERE’S THE “END OF BLOG” SPIEL!
