Good Morning Penny Darlings and welcome back to another exciting Friday!

Hooray! Today is a pay day and a long weekend off! Two perks! Double hooray!

AND DUNKIN DONUTS STARTED CARRYING THEIR FALL FLAVORS AND YA GIRL IS HIGH KEY OBSESSED WITH THIS MAPLE PECAN. I miss the summer S’mores, but Maple Pecan is a pretty good substitute. I approve DD. I will continue to run on DD.

And Preston and I got this thing in the mail for a local car dealership doing a $5,000 giveaway based on a scratch ticket for a promotional thing…and our scratch ticket won and we can’t seem to find a gimmick on the card – so we’re going to the car dealer to see if we won a weirdly large amount of money! Fingers crossed, ya’ll.

But another perk this weekend is that I am going to see my lifelong friend (seriously, since I was like eight or nine?) get hitched! It’s going to be so fun and the dress code was listed as ‘semi-formal’.

And let me tell you, the ‘etiquette’ of semi-formal seems to be subjective AT BEST.

My mom and I argued about it – she said only dark colors or gem tones. I said it had more to do with the cut and the fabric. Internet says it’s about length, necklines, cost of dress, etc. It was tough to find out exactly what that meant.

But last fall I attended a wedding that was listed as ‘formal’ and I was WAY underdressed and I definitely felt that way.

So after searching for the perfect ‘late summer/early fall/semi-formal/but also comfy/and afforable’ wedding guest dress: I found this AMAZING frock from Kiyonna.

This dress PERFECTLY fit the bill.

It’s super stretchy jersey and breathable, it has some REALLY flattering ruching, good length, a little longer in the back, a vintage rose/mauve color was the perfect combo of summer and fall, and it didn’t break the bank. It’s 3/4 sleeves so I won’t need a cardigan if it’s too cold but it’s not going to make me sweat to death if it’s hot.

Find this dress here! It’s also available in burgundy or ‘Merlot’ – mine is in the color ‘Vintage Rose’ which honestly was half the reason. Vintage Rose sounded romantic and soft and perfect for a wedding.

So let’s talk about how I styled it!

*Sorry about my scar leg. The scar is new and I hate it*

So this Vintage Rose, princess mauve, twirly skirt, romantic vibe was definitely giving me the ‘princess vibe’ – so my style was very ‘princess-esque’

Or princessque, if you will. Oh, you won’t? I’ll see myself out.

My first style choice was to mix and match headbands between this silver satin bow or the classic pearls. I definitely thought those (and I couldn’t decide which!) was a feminine, princess, extra-ish touch.

BREAKING NEWS

*SPOILER ALERT*

WARNING.WARNING.WARNING.

I have real shoes for this look.

I have these amazing soft blush pink, faux suede, mini pumps (and by mini – I mean like half an inch) from Avenue. This is the link to these gorgeous shoes – but I’m posting more about them next week! *but they come in wide width, are comfy AF, and are on sale right meow. Just saying*

These shoes are totally wedding perfect. They have a slight heel, are a really soft and comfy wear, match the whole look, and are a really subtle feminine flare and most important are easy enough to slip off when it’s time to boogie on the dance floor.

Wedding Guest Shoes should have only two factors: Fanciness & Boogie-ability.

So I know you’re all sitting there saying ‘GET TO THAT AMAZING DISNEY CLUTCH, ABBY’ or if you think my first name is Penny then “GET TO THAT AMAZING DISNEY CLUTCH, PENNY.”

So lemme get to it.

This clutch has been hidden underneath some shoes on the clearance rack of my local Torrid for like the last year. And it was total luck that it was still there when I picked out this dress. Here’s the link to the clutch!

And I have BEEN HIDING THE BEST PART ABOUT THE CLUTCH:

* It * is * double * sided *

There is a Maleficent side and a Sleeping Beauty Side.

So to play up the darker side – I paired it with the dark gray and silver bow headband and I played up the girly princess side with the pearl headband.

It’s the perfect size for keys, wallet, phone, lipstick for touch up, and some flip flops. The perfect wedding sized clutch.

And it’s the perfect statement piece. I’m not usually too big on jewelry. I don’t have pierced ears and I find that necklaces can usually get caught in my curls when I do fancy up-do’s.

So Final Wedding Guest Look Book:

Be sure to check out this dress on the Kiyonna website. You can find the site here and that specific dress here!

Bonus:

My amazing friend Lauren did all these photos! Check out her website and Instagram! And on our way out of the shoot location – we found this AMAZINGLY DELIGHTFUL sunflower field. I mean, it was in the middle of the cornfields and it was just there. Gorgeous.

So I kicked off my shoes and wedding gear and decided I was going to go be a sunflower princess and a damn floral fairy.
