Welcome Back, Penny Darlings!
Happy Monday to all! This is a fabulous day for all! Today is the official ‘week of the show’ for Sweeney Todd and YA GIRL IS PUMPED! Preston is playing the Beadle (the right hand man of the bad guy) and is SO FREAKING CUTE. Well, evil. But I think he’s adorable.
And the Wednesday night performance of this show will mark the three year point of the night we met and I am so excited!
And I was with him throughout this process and helping with costumes! I got to distress coats and pick out costumes and help our AMAZING costume designer, Kate. I steamed petticoats and distressed coats and pulled tops and shoes and skirts and helped find wigs and hats. It was SO fun.
And it’s nice because I work at home so I can always go with him to rehearsal (and truth be told, it’s nice to see other humans and be a social person.)
Happy Opening to Sweeney Todd!
But, let’s talk about clothing utility.
So, I am now a plus sized blogger. I am ALWAYS in the market for new clothes and hardly in the financial place to just KEEP replacing my clothes so that I always have an exciting look for my posts.
I try to always fill my closet with a few ‘staple’ pieces with black pants and a black skirt that can mix and match with ANYTHING, a good pair of jeans, a red sweater, black and brown shoes, boots, etc.
And this top from Kiyonna is no exception. So I grabbed this Promenade Top. This top is good from a night out with friends to a casual Saturday afternoon at the pumpkin patch and back to the office!
I do, truly, think clothing utility is important. There should be a few places that you should splurge and a few places to cut back – but a stretchy knit black top that can go from the office to a bar to a flea market is, in my opinion, is a wardrobe utility staple.
Girl’s Night Out
I started with this look for a ‘girl’s night out’ look! This top is super stretchy and cute. I paired it with some VIBRANT red leggings from Torrid.
I paired it with some cheetah flats (cheetah is awesome for a splash of fun, flats are better for dancing) and a matching cheetah purse.
I think it adds a touch of fun, glam, and going out vibes.
The Office
In addition to being a wonderful contemporary sitcom, this look for the office is a gem. I went totally monochromatic with the actual outfit!
I mixed my Promenade Top with these chevron stretchy palazzo pants and some black suede high heels. I love mixing textures too from stretchy rayon pants, knit top, and suede heels with bows.
And then, because I can do literally NOTHING without adding some pink and some glitter, I added a pop of color! I added a glitter pink headband, a hot pink clutch, and some hot pink glasses! Such a cute look.
So, this is my ‘office’ look with my staple black top.
Casual Saturday Afternoon
I couldn’t think of a better way to name this outfit…but like, casual saturday afternoons, amirite?
I feel like in the fall – casual Saturday afternoons are full of pumpkin picking, apple cider festivals, hayrides, and fun outside fall activities, shopping downtown, or endless trips to HomeGoods and enjoying the fall foliage and day long roadtrips.
For this look I jazzed my Promenade Top up with my most fun and cozy cheetah leggings, my beige (and totally fake) Ugg style boots, and added a touch of whimsy with my
