Happy Monday, Penny Darlings!
I am coming to you here mid-thunderstorm while Harvey has tiny shaky panic attacks in a blanket fort I made under my chair. Poor baby! I just want to snuggle him but he won’t let me!
Also, this was a very busy work weekend! So I’m excited for my upcoming bachelorette party! Whoooooo! I literally cannot WAIT to share these shots with you! EEEP! Do you want me to do a ‘meet the cast’ of my bridal party and share some fun anecdotes? Let me know!
Let me just start with the boring stuff so we can get to the goods! Ha! Check me out on Instagram here! I also started a Twitter account! Find that here! Follow Preston’s brand new fashion Instagram here! I also have a selling Instagram page where I sell some of my old clothes/styles so that I don’t drown in my own wardrobe. I just listed a few new things – so check that out!
But anyway, I want to talk to something that should be an adorable cartoon but instead is the literal worst:
What catcalling should be:
I know. Old topic. But I have something unusual for this particular topic.
But we don’t need to talk about catcalling culture. There’s a hundred million better writers and speakers who have explored this with different ideas and theories. It’s a mixture of confusing, intimidating, scary, some strange form of flattering, embarrassing, and usually just makes your nose crinkle.
I go out and shoot frequently (2-3x a week) and I get catcalled while doing that pretty frequently. And sometimes my photographer (usually Preston, sometimes Lauren, occasionally a different friend) captures a moment that someone catcalls me.
This has varied in severity from me being mildly annoyed, flat out angry, sent into tears, and even feeling unsafe. You can see the progression below.
These times are too gross and weird. But they involved people approaching too close, threatening, or more. These are the times that sent me into a panic and tears as soon as it was resolved. I’m great when my adrenaline kicks but I sob when I’m coming down.
SO HERE’S THE “END OF BLOG” SPIEL!
