Happy Thursday, friends!
I’m coming ‘atcha from the PDHQ (meaning my new HOME OFFICE, deets coming soon!). Charlie and I are snuggled up with a mug of tea and some Degrassi on in the background. And I’m definitely not going to reward myself with some cookies my dad made yesterday when I’m done (jk, I totally am.)
But that’s a convenient segue into my next thought here! Today, I’m going to share my ‘how I became a foodie’ story and share my Dad’s TOP SECRET buttermilk pancake recipe. Seriously, I’ve been impressing friends with these flapjacks since I was old enough to cook!
Let me just squeeze in some of the boring stuff! Ha! Check me out on Instagram here! I also started a Twitter account! Find that here!
I also have a selling Instagram page where I sell some of my old clothes/styles so that I don’t drown in my own wardrobe. I just listed a few new things – so check that out!

The smell of coffee or fresh maple syrup on pancakes or something baking in the oven is a staple of visiting my parents’ house. My dad has always been our ‘Chef Hoy-are-dee’ for the family my whole life.
When I used to come home for the weekend from college – there was always the smell of something yummy in the kitchen (with extras to take back, of course!).
So when Village Candle came out with their new foodie line, I couldn’t pick just one! I love having my new house with my husband always smell like brewing coffee or pancakes!
In fact, I was burning my Maple Butter & Coffee Bean one at the same time and my neighbor texted me and asked if I was making breakfast and could they have some! I laughed and said it was just the candles!

Maple Butter
My dad has made me a total food snob. Like to the point of I gave out maple syrup as a wedding favor because some people are still out here using butter flavored syrup instead of 100% pure maple syrup.
No pancakes from a box, no baked goods from a mix, no mashed potatoes from a packet; my dad did not believe in any of that! And he is a pretty darn good chef! I can remember him coming home from work and we would watch the Barefoot Contessa together!
I try to be as good of a chef as my dad but I will say that I do fall victim to jars of sauce and an oven ready meal on busy nights! But I’ve even made Preston a bit of a food snob!
Dad’s Super Secret Buttermilk Pancake Recipe
2 Cups buttermilk
2 Eggs
6 Tbl. Butter – melted
1-1/2 Cups flour
1 Tsp. salt
2 Tsp. baking soda
Mix dry ingredients together.
Beat eggs and slowly whisk in butter and then whisk in the buttermilk.
Dump in dry ingredients and stir just enough to incorporate into liquid.
Drop onto well greased griddle at medium low heat. (My preference)
Try it and thank us later.
