Introducing: ThePennyDapper

Hello there, Penny Darlings!

Happy Friday!

And TFGIF.

Thank freaking God that it’s Friday! It’s been a looooong and hot week. For real.

Check me out on Instagram here! I also started a Twitter account! Find that here!

So, let’s first do a little introduction! You all know my darling and wonderful boyfriend, Preston!

He and I have been dating for just shy of three years….and I have to say…he is a gem. The absolute best. 10/10. I’m gonna marry the f*ck out of him.

But he has had some various stages of fashion since I met him! He’s had a formal, exquisitely matching suit collection, a trendy plaid with jeans and a tie look, some casual summer shorts and novelty print shirts and everywhere inbetween. And inarguably, one of the best men’s shoe collections I’ve ever seen.

Not only that, but Preston has been wildly supportive and a wonderful (and mostly silent) co-partner of Penny Darling. He is my photographer, moral support CEO, and fashion council. I could never have done any of this without him.

And since he has such an interest (and knack!) for retro, stylish, trendy, and awesome fashion – he decided to make a ‘companion instagram’ to my account.

We actually got inspired from my absolute IDOL, FatGirlFlow. Her husband has his own account called FatBoyFlow and gets to post a little about himself and his style and lifestyle and we thought – HEY WE COULD DO THAT.

And do to an overwhelming popular vote, I introduce:

ThePennyDapper

I’ll get off my soapbox and let Preston introduce himself!

Preston:

Hi, I’m Preston! I’m sure you’ve seen me around these parts before. I work full time at an eye doctor’s office, part time with The Penny Darling, and I’m a full time dork! I mean, I’m primarily a theatre dork, but I nerd out about a lot of other stuff, too. I’m basically Ben Wyatt from Parks and Recreation.

Since this will be a style blog, I suppose I should let you in on a few different styles I’ve gone through in my life. My first stage was wearing Hawaiian or other loud pattern shirts open over t-shirts. I mean, these were some glorious shirts, my favorite of which was a bright orange and yellow Max Headroom-esque shirt, which some have also referred to as my nacho shirt (I was clearly really popular in high school). Then, as the 2000’s became the 2010’s, I evolved into a more… well… dapper style. Gone were the Hawaiian shirts, and in their place were dress shirts, along with sportcoats, ties, bow ties, dress shoes, everything was dress clothing… except the jeans. That’s how you know I’m keeping it casual. A great deal of this era (which hasn’t really ended, it sort of blends into my next era) was influenced by my time working at a men’s clothing store, where I obtained most of my wardrobe. I can’t wait to share all my cool shoes and hats with you! Abby loves my hats. *This is Abby. I do not love his hats but I don’t believe in censorship…or that anyone in 2017 should casually wear a top hat to the grocery store, Preston.*

And now, we enter the current stage, which, as I said, sort of rolls over with my previous stage, it’s just trendier. I finally, for the first time in over ten years, bought a pair of shorts, and it’s changed my whole summer. For years, I’ve struggled with how to look natty and stylish when it’s 90 degrees outside. But I finally found some shorts that I liked, and my summer has been so fly. *Abby again! Fly? Who is this guy?*

I am a firm believer that you should always dress well, because you never know when your friend might burst into your room, or wherever you are, and say, “We have to go on the adventure of a lifetime, RIGHT NOW! No time to pack!”

So, that’s a little about me. I hope you all like the blog (love me, please!), I’m excited to see where this goes. I may even write a guest post or two here! It turns out that even writing this short intro has been a great way to get back into writing!

So be sure to check out all of the exciting stuff that is going to be coming on this front. His Instagram will be full of exciting men’s looks, fitness, men’s fashion, theatre, style, grooming, etc. DUDE STUFF. Ya know? \

And if it works – awesome. If not, that’s okay too!

But I’m proud of him for trying something new and I am excited for us to be able to work on this project together and to have him step in front of the camera for once!
